Responsible Use
FaceSwapper is an independent, experimental face-transformation demo that runs entirely in your browser.
Synthetic face imagery can cause real harm. Do not use FaceSwapper — or anything you make with it — for any of the following:
- Fraud, scams, or impersonation intended to deceive
- Fabricating evidence or misleading journalists, courts, employers, or the public
- Non-consensual sexual or intimate imagery
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, or intimidation
- Defamation — putting a real person's face in false, reputation-harming contexts
- Deliberate disinformation, including political deception around elections or crises
- Circumventing identity verification or authentication systems
- Any other unlawful use
Sharing rules
- Keep the label. Every download is stamped “AI-manipulated · FaceSwapper” (plus machine-readable metadata in PNGs). Do not crop out or remove these marks when sharing — in the EU, transparency duties for AI-manipulated imagery (see AI Act Art. 50, including its satire/creative-work considerations) may apply to you as the publisher.
- Context matters. Satire that a reasonable viewer recognises as satire is very different from a fake presented as a genuine photo. When in doubt, add an explicit caption.
- Consent matters. Don't use someone's face to mock, shame, or target them.
Technical limits of this safeguard
FaceSwapper is intentionally client-side: there is no server looking at your images, which means there is no server-side moderation by design (any pixels you process never leave your device). This policy is therefore enforced socially and legally, not technically. You are responsible for what you create and share.
If you believe someone is using FaceSwapper outputs to harm you, preserve evidence and contact local law enforcement or a trusted support organisation — the project maintainers cannot see or delete images processed locally in other people's browsers.
